Since 1902, the members of the Washington, D.C.-based American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) have designed, built and continue to manage a national transportation network that facilitates mobility, economic growth and an unmatched quality of life. The association’s mission is simple: We are a federation whose primary goal is to aggressively grow and protect transportation infrastructure investment to meet the public and business demand for safe and efficient travel. In support of this mission, ARTBA provides programs and services designed to give its 8,000+ public and private sector members a global competitive edge. North Carolina is in a state of emergency, and numerous areas are still without power following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Roads have been closed because of downed trees, and the record flooding has caused landslides and damage to roadways. NCDOT has requested assistance from the I-26 Fluor-United Asheville team, and they have responded. Crews have been working to help clear roadways and provide temporary repairs to the roadways to allow utility crews to access the areas and provide access for residents. Our thoughts and well wishes go out to the Fluor-United Asheville workers, their families, residents of western North Carolina and all of those affected by Helene. We are proud to be able to support NCDOT in their recovery efforts. #BuildingABetterWorld

Less than 24 hrs after the storm, Wright Brothers crews were out in force to repair critical damage that happened in western North Carolina. A great example of this response to can be seen in these pictures of NC 105 in Boone. Project Manager Madeline Haneline, David Bailey, Charles Bailey and Robert Mullins worked tirelessly through the day and night to complete repairs. With the help of Vulcan Materials Company , our crew completed repairs and had the road ready for to be paved by Maymead Inc. In less than four days, our partnership had NC 105 back in service. Last week, ARTBA played host to dozens of congressional staff, state and local transportation officials, and ARTBA members and industry stakeholders, as Kokosing and McLean Contracting Company shared their work re-decking a portion of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The tour served as a spotlight on the value of transportation investment. Thanks to all who made the day possible!
