Our 25th Anniversary event committee met last night at HeARTwares on the Avenue. We are thrilled to report that we've received one of the Annual Mayor's Business Recognition Awards in the category of Supporting Safe and Vibrant Communities! This award honors 16 businesses and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional civic leadership and a commitment to improving the quality of life in the Baltimore Region. Art with a Heart is a recipient of the 2024 50th Annual Mayor’s Business Recognition Award. We are recognized in the category of "providing safe and vibrant communities". We are very proud of the work we have been able to do in Baltimore and also grateful to Mayor Scott, The Greater Baltimore Committee and The Baltimore Development Committee for this honor. We are not slowing down anytime soon and look forward to more projects, partnerships and collaborations in our work in making Baltimore a more vibrant and beautiful place for EVERYONE! Randi Pupkin, our Founder and longtime Executive Director has announced that she will retire in June 2025?and a new Executive Director has been selected. From Randi: “After pouring my heart and soul into this work for 25 years, I am honored to pass the leadership to someone who knows the organization inside and out – namely, Megan Gatto, Art with a Heart’s Deputy Director. Megan began her AWAH journey nine years ago when she started as Program Coordinator and has worked hard over the years to learn the business of nonprofits and the work of Art with a Heart. Megan has grown from Program Coordinator, to Co-Program Director, to Program Director and in 2023 became the Deputy Director. Megan is a very dedicated person – to her husband, Tony, her family, her dog, Oscar – and to Art with a Heart. She is extremely talented, energetic, creative and nimble. She is also ready for the challenge of leading this incredible organization that I started from the trunk of my car back in 2000. Join us as we welcome three Art with a Heart volunteers who are also authors – Richie Frieman, Jacquie Toner and Ken Weiss. Each author will give a brief talk about their most recent work and there will also be a group Q&A session following their talks. Wednesday, October 9 6:00pm – 8:00pm Art with a Heart's offices 3000 Falls Road The Ivy Bookshop will be with us at the event, selling copies of the books. Attending the event is free. Complimentary light fare will be available. Plus, beer, wine and soft drinks. Parking is limited, so please consider carpooling or using a rideshare service.
