??For the 2nd Annual Behind the Mask, event hosted by NAWBO Chicago's DEIB committee, we combined great food, topical discussions and the ?? connective power of art.?? The mask making stations allowed for conversation, winding down and self expression and netted astounding results! Would you like to know the best thing about our launch of Brides, Brushes and Bubbly? at the 2024 Bridal Expo in Rosemont? Well, I mean outside of meeting great people like Dawn Bremer and having a blast doing so? And connecting with more than 250 brides who visited our booth, sharing our story and asking them questions? The best thing was realizing that the entrepreneurial bug was rubbing off on my granddaughter (the one in the glasses), getting her so excited that the night before she said, "This is gonna be EPIC"! And she was correct! You should have seen the big ol' grin on my face, buttons popping off my vest, beaming with pride! The energy was off the chain and all the entrepreneurial fears of the previous night floated away on a cloud of joy! It was truly a family affair and my team was just the absolute best! Art, music, food, and a wonderful community of friends and guests! Our Grand Opening on May 18 was delightful, joyful and artfully interactive. We welcomed Phyllis Frick's children's art, Munchbird dog treats, introducing the brand to Oak Park's huge community of dog owners, Catalina Gaete-Bentz, Mara Smith's Inspiro tequila, Renee Galvin and @Chef Loren DeVaroe, the Sole Ingredient. Thank you all so much for sharing your gifts and sharing the day with me. There's something magical about having a public-facing space to ask questions, get suggestions, solicit feedback and most importantly to engage and get to know your customer base. That was my biggest gift and takeaway for the day. Thanks to the friends and family who supported me and Art Studio 928 LLC and our mission to create an environment where art flourishes in its various forms, and to support teen artists towards a fulfilling and viable career path worthy of pursuit. It was so great to hang out with my cuz, Tacara Hammons (who has a big event in Orland Park on June 1), Zach Ricketson, MS. Rico R., Susan Dawson Sue Harrawood and hubby Mike, LaTanya Orr (Opening a new co-working space in Beverly at the end of the month), Victoria Rock and Monica Harris and PJ Harris and Alisha Roberts-Novak, PMP, Tracey McGhee/her mom and Pat Day-McCray thank you for your support! And a special thanks to my creative director @Jour'ne Thompson, who is not on Linkedin yet, but who reached out to me for a job almost a year ago and WOW did I hit the jackpot. I couldn't have pulled this off without her! My Girl Scout Troop 47356 came and sold lots of cookies. And what would the event have been without the ARTISTS!! What a wonderful time we had experiencing their artwork. Two of our artists were from the The Chicago Academy for the Arts where my son Anthony Vargas attended. Manifesting the Power of Art! JOY is the word that comes to mind. Clear and utter joy is so evident in the faces of those who joined us for our complimentary paint in our new Oak Park, IL studio. The women in the foreground are not smiling for the cameras, they are smiling out of pride, satisfaction, creativity, wonder and admiration for each other...even though they are/WERE complete strangers. This is what art can do for teams, bring them together, get them talking, sharing stories, commiserating and supporting each other. And we make that happen in 2 short hours! My girl Audria Green Hawkins won a paint night for 2 in our drawing. And she's ordering our art boxes for her family retreat. I'm proud of the work I do. I get immense joy from the experience as do my students who become better artists after just one session! Their paintings were amazing! #studio928 #powerofart #creativity #leadership
