My read on DeepSeek & recent AI developments: It reveals that we are fast approaching a point of diminishing returns for LLMs, which leaves the following area for competitive advantage: distribution (installs, uses). The LLMs with the greatest distribution will have the best data, and therefore, the most relevant real-time intelligence. Given that, I think Llama (Meta) has significant long-term advantages, given its future integration into FB, IG, WhatsApp, Oculus, Ray-Bans, etc. It’s also further strengthened by their open source model, encouraging scalable use by other enterprises. Google also has advantages with Gemini plugged into the entire Google Suite. Newer AI-only companies are going to require key partnerships with large companies to achieve such levels of distribution, which is difficult, but also possible.
