I have played drums at my church since I was young, and like most of my peers, I once aspired to be a basketball player. I’m not personally in recovery, but I have a “second-hand” perspective, if you will. My mother struggled with prescription pills when I was younger due to nerve damage and various kidney-related health issues. My uncles and grandfather also battled substance abuse and alcoholism. Coming from areas affected by poverty and addiction, I have both perspective and relatability. I have a 9-month-old pit/lab mix named Remo. My favorite quote is something I’ve been telling myself since I was young. I’ve been a registered nurse for almost 18 years, with a background primarily in NICU and ER before coming to Arrowwood. I joined Arrowwood for a fresh start in nursing and to explore a new field. Since arriving, I’ve learned so much about addiction treatment and recovery—things I was previously unfamiliar with, as I had never been around addiction myself. It has been incredibly rewarding to witness clients' progress from intake to discharge. I have been married to my husband for almost 15 years, and we have four children—two daughters and two sons. We spend most of our time at the ball fields, cheering on our older two as they play travel and school baseball and softball.
