Arquitina
民间和社会团体
A national non-profit organization with a mission to raise the 1% of licensed Latina architects in the US.
关于我们
Arquitina is a professional leadership and licensure initiative for emerging Latinas in the field of Architecture. We are multicultural Latinas and we are passionate about architecture and the built environment. There are just over 121,000 licensed architects in the United States, 17-20% are women and 1.7% are Latinx Women. Why the disparity? Women of color experience lack of recognition and representation both in academia and professional practice, which affects career trajectory. While close to 50% of women are earning degrees in Architecture and earn licensing requirements 1.2 times sooner than men, women only represent about 17% of firm principals and or partners. A 2019 NCARB report shows that non-white candidates are 25% more likely to fall off the path of licensure. This is due to disparity in wages, promotions and recognition. Racial and gender diversity shows an improvement along all early career stages. However, the numbers indicate that Latina/x women remain under the 1% of licensed architects. Although the exact number of Latina/x Women is unknown, it is clear that we contribute and advance the profession as architects, engineers, planners, construction managers and sustainability professionals. Arquitina was created on an ethos of “lift as you climb”. Mentored by Latina/x Architects and allied professionals that support equity and inclusivity in the architectural profession, Arquitina candidates can receive the mentorship, encouragement and resources necessary to clear the path of licensure, and pursue a successful career in architecture.
