During #BlackHistoryMonth we're recognizing individuals that made significant contributions to #behavioralhealth. ?? Today we're shining the spotlight on Andrea G. Barthwell, M.D., a longtime leader in the SUD treatment field whose commitment to blending science and practice inspires us. Her track record is MASSIVE ??, so we can't list everything. She served in the White House as the deputy director for demand reduction in the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), she's the former president (and now a fellow) of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), founding Chair of the Board of the Foundation for Opioid Response Effort (FORE) and founder of Encounter Medical Group, P.C. Awards? ?? Yep, she's got those too. Her peers named her one of the "Best Doctors in America" in addiction medicine and she received the Betty Ford Award, given by the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA). Currently she's the Chief Medical Officer at Wire Health, so she's still devoted to finding innovative ways to bring care to those that need it most. ???????????????????? #healthequity #behavioralhealthcare
