Watertown Public Arts and Culture Committee is collaborating with DCR to commission a mural that commemorates the life and work of Arshile Gorky. We are seeking artists to install a mural along the Watertown Cambridge Greenway. Themes may include abstract expressionism, Armenian culture, resiliency in the face of adversity, and immigrant experiences.
关于我们
The Armenian Museum of America is the largest Armenian Museum in the Diaspora. It has grown into a major repository for all forms of Armenian material culture that illustrate the creative endeavors of the Armenian people over the centuries. Today, the Museum’s collections hold more than 25,000 artifacts including 5,000 ancient and medieval Armenian coins, 1,000 stamps and maps, 3,000 textiles, and 180 Armenian inscribed rugs. In addition to more than 30,000 books in the Research Library, there is an extensive collection of Urartian and religious artifacts, ceramics, medieval illuminations, and various other objects. The collection includes historically significant objects, including five of the Armenian Bibles printed in Amsterdam in 1666. But the Armenian Museum is more than just a storehouse of artifacts. It’s a living museum and library which offers exhibits and diverse cultural and literary programs to its members and the community at large. It is where Armenian-Americans can visit to discover their roots and where people of all ethnic backgrounds can see how the story of the Armenian people plays a vital part within the rich cultural symphony that is America.

"This exhibition [Gandzaran] speaks to the sundry and unique works of art that are receiving a moment to breathe and inspire, irritate or confound the audience - as art should be allowed to do through display and query." - Maureen Canney in Art New England magazine "Gandzaran! Notable Selections from Our Collection" is on view through Aug. 4. Our three floors of gallery space in Watertown (Boston) are open Thursday through Sunday from 12-6.
