An arena for lawyers, judges, and law students to address the legal concerns of the Armenian community.
关于我们
The Armenian Bar Association was formed in 1989 to provide an arena for lawyers of Armenian heritage to come together socially and professionally and to address the legal concerns of the Armenian community. With the creation of an independent Republic of Armenia, the Association undertook the task of helping to build and encourage the growth of democratic institutions in Armenia. The Armenian Bar Association is a forum in which attorneys with different backgrounds and at different stages of their careers share their expertise and insight. Such an exchange of experience and knowledge forms the backbone of the Association’s dual goals of professional growth and community advancement. This sharing finds expression in the liaison work of the Association in supporting the emergence of a rule of law society in the Republic of Armenia. The cooperation also takes the form of pro bono assistance and legal education seminars geared toward raising community awareness of rights and responsibilities. The Association is a democratic organization. Its members and sponsors support it and give it direction. They approve its by-laws, elect a Board of Governors, nominate prominent jurists as honorary members, and set the policy for the fiscal year. The Association is committed to serve the profession of law, the interests of its members, and the rights of its constituents.

??? Remembering the Armenian Pogroms: A Call to Action On the 37th anniversary of the Armenian Pogroms in Azerbaijan, the Armenian Bar Association’s Pogroms Project, in collaboration with the The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, continues its vital mission of collecting testimonies from survivors and witnesses. These powerful voices shed light on the atrocities that took place from February 27 to 29, 1988, when coordinated violence erupted in Sumgait, later spreading to cities like Baku, Kirovabad, and Maragha. Today, we honor the lives lost and the resilience of those who survived. The Pogroms Project remains a crucial effort in ensuring these untold stories are never forgotten, and that the painful history of this violence is shared with the world. Let us remember, educate, and work together to prevent such tragedies from ever happening again. If you were a survivor or witness to these events, we invite you to share your story with us. ?? February is #TeenDatingViolenceAwarenessMonth, and this year's theme is Respect That! ?? It's a powerful reminder that consent, healthy relationships, and mutual respect are key. The Armenian Bar Association's Domestic Violence Committee launched an educational video, Inappropriate Social Conduct on College Campuses and Title IX Violations. This video features law student-led interviews of Joseph Markus, a seasoned Title IX practitioner, security officer Evan Bruzzi, and Dr. Regina Mouradian, a clinical psychologist, focusing on issues of consent and psychological trauma resulting from unwanted social conduct, how to protect oneself against this behavior and how to file and defend against Title IX violation proceedings. This video provides a wealth of information to college-bound and college students alike, as well as their parents/legal guardians. Contact us if you'd like to arrange for a speaker on your campus. Open Letter to the Government of the Republic of Armenia We urge the Armenian government to reaffirm its commitment to seeking justice and accountability for the crimes against ethnic Armenians. Withdrawing international legal complaints against Azerbaijan would betray victims, endanger individual claims, and promote impunity. The pursuit of justice is vital for lasting peace and security. Justice is non-negotiable. #ArmenianJustice #Accountability #HumanRights #NikolPashinyan

At the 2025 International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington, D.C. (Feb 3-5), the Armenian Bar Association made a powerful impact, advocating for the protection of religious and cultural freedoms. For the 4th year in a row, the Association highlighted critical issues, including the illegal detention of Armenian hostages, the destruction of sacred sites in Artsakh, and the ongoing threats to Armenians. Sonya Nersessian, former Chair of the Armenian Bar, addressed legal frameworks to protect Armenian identity and cultural heritage under international law. The Armenian Bar Association remains committed to defending human rights and religious freedom globally. #ReligiousFreedom #HumanRights #ArmenianBarAssociation #JusticeForArmenians #CulturalHeritage #Artsakh #IRFSummit #InternationalReligiousFreedom

?? Urgent Action Alert: Armenian Bar Association Opposes $100M Loan to Azerbaijan ?? The Armenian Bar Association has filed a formal opposition to a proposed $100M+ loan or financial guarantee to Azerbaijan under the Export-Import Bank Act of 1945. The loan, if it were to go forward, would support the export of Boeing commercial jets to Silk Way West Airlines in Azerbaijan. Silk Way West Airlines was reportedly deployed as an instrument of Azerbaijan’s iniquitous aggression against the people of Artsakh. We stand firmly against this illicit pact which would, at a minimum, indirectly support a government responsible for severe human rights abuses, including ethnic cleansing, torture, forced disappearances of journalists, and the oppression of the native Armenian population of Artsakh. By approving this deal, the Export-Import Bank would knowingly endorse a regime that continues to violate fundamental human rights. We urge decision-makers to reconsider this high-risk transaction and disassociate unequivocally from human rights atrocities. We expect full accountability and support peace, justice, and human dignity for all. The deal really must be undone. Read the Public Submittal here: https://lnkd.in/dp-DR5Tb
