Our team is working on fabricating the overhead weld water, domestic water, waste/vent piping and hanger for a large automotive manufacturer in Normal, IL. The piping is assembled and trimmed out in the plumbing and piping fabrication shop. The PVC waste and vent are cut and assembled. The copper is cut, cleaned, and fabricated so there will be minimal joints in the field. The stainless steel pipe is cut, cleaned and grooved for ease of hanging and attaching components. The hangers are cut, assembled and ready to hang on the structure. We have fabricated the assemblies from spool drawings created from our in-house Virtual Design and Construction department. This project will be fully 3D modeled and fabricated in our fabrication shops before being delivered to the site for install. We cut the PVC, copper, and stainless steel pipe directly from the 3D model, then clean, fabricate, and package by sections. This process eliminates having to cut and build each assembly onsite in an uncontrolled environment. Our Small Projects team completed a job at the Holiday Inn in Champaign. The hotel never had any interruptions in hot water demand, and this work was all done during the State Wrestling Tournament at State Farm Center. A big thank you to the crew, which consisted of Richard Flanagan running the project, Austin Cooley, Harlan Gilmore, Nick Carswell, and others. Awesome planning on Richard's part kept the hotel in operation. Champaign A&K Insulation Co. Inc. will be insulating the piping soon. Complete Electrical Systems provided the power for the equipment. The pictures show the old boilers and 2000-gal storage tank the guys had to work around while installing new equipment.?

Women in Construction Week is the first full week of March. We take this time to highlight the work of women within the industry. The week is observed to appreciate the women who have entered the construction industry and encourage those willing to make similar commitments. Our team is fabricating the inwall bathroom groups for the third floor at our Federal Clients project in Illinois. The carrier groups are assembled and trimmed out in the plumbing fabrication shop. The cast iron waste and vent are cut and assembled. The copper is cut, cleaned, and fabricated so there will be minimal joints in the field. These inwall bathroom groups are transported with two rolling jacks to the correct location onsite and then set in place for final connections. We have fabricated the assemblies from spool drawings created from our in-house Virtual Design and Construction department. This project will be fully 3D modeled and fabricated in our fabrication shops before being delivered to the site for install. A unique aspect of this project is we cut the cast and copper pipe directly from the 3D model then clean, fabricate, and package by sections. Our Project Highlight for January is for a pharmaceutical customer in Indiana. Our teams are currently working on the underground plumbing in one of the buildings. Our team is currently fabricating the lower level plumbing at Purdue University Hillenbrand Residence Hall. The PVC pipe is cut, labeled, and then solvent welded/assembled in our Plumbing Fabrication shop to optimize the waste and minimize the onsite material handling. We have fabricated the assemblies from our inhouse union Virtual Design department. A unique aspect of this project is we digitally draw and spool this piping to provide the cut pieces, so we can assemble, and solvent weld each custom piece. This process eliminates having to cut and build each assembly onsite in an uncontrolled environment. This PVC piping is just part of the lower level plumbing piping. The sizes range from 1-1/2", 2", 3", 4", 6", and 8". We are fabricating in our shop eliminating labor in the field and in a safer environment with an overhead crane to assist in material handling.
