Arlington Thrive delivers same-day emergency funds to our neighbors in crisis, so they can be secure in their jobs, health, and homes and thrive in a caring community. Thrive is the only organization in Arlington County, Virginia that provides same-day, emergency financial assistance to County residents who experience sudden financial crisis such as temporary unemployment or illness. Most clients are the working poor, elderly and disabled people on a fixed income, and the homeless and formerly homeless who need Arlington Thrive’s funds as a “safety net” until they are able to get back on firmer financial footing. Arlington Thrive’s clients are among Arlington County’s most vulnerable residents. Families with children are given the highest priority, and one-third of the individuals served by Arlington Thrive are children. Our Vision An Arlington community where all have homes, are financially stable, and thrive. Despite experiencing the DMV's "fake spring," the winter has proven to be difficult for children going to school. While every child loves a snow day, some dread facing the cold without winter coats, gloves, hats, and other winter basics to stay warm. Arlington Community Foundation's generosity extends beyond keeping homes warm, but keeping bodies warm too. Through a $2000 emergency grant, within 24 hours, Arlington Thrive provided 50 young ones with winter essentials to keep safe and warm. Get updates on the work we do directly to your inbox! At Thrive, we know several factors contribute to the rising need for utility and rent support: housing costs, utility price hikes, economic instability, and a lack of support programs - leaving families struggling to afford basic necessities. Thanks to the Arlington Community Foundation's Nonprofit Wish-List, our wish came true – $5,000 dedicated to covering utility bills for those in need across the county. Thanks to ACF’s generosity, we were able to help 20 families keep their heat on throughout the month of January. The rapid consumption of the $5,000 grant underscores the severity of the situation. Arlington Thrive provides a critical lifeline for individuals and families facing financial crises, offering immediate assistance to prevent homelessness and utility shutoffs.
