In today's Women’s History Month Spotlight, Corporal Maliya Griffiths recognizes her mom, Jennifer! Choosing to become a police officer is not a small choice, however, Corporal Griffiths easily made the decision after watching her mom spend her career keeping others safe by rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in the United State Air Force. Despite the long-distance challenges a military career posed at times, her mom always made an effort to remain a strong female figure in her life and shaped her to be the woman she is serving the Arlington community today. ACPD thanks you for your service to our country, Jennifer!

For today's Women's History Month Spotlight, Master Police Officer Harley Guenther recognizes her mom, Diane. MPO Guenther grew up not only watching her mom skillfully raise her family, but also dedicate her career to serving the Arlington community as an Arlington County police officer. Even after her retirement, Diane returned to ACPD as a civilian where she still serves today. Through observing her mom’s example, Harley knows success is not just about professional achievement, but also about staying true to your values and nurturing the relationships that matter most. Having her mom by her side has taught her that being a woman doesn't mean having to choose between family and career—it means finding strength in both. In most places, it is uncommon to see generations of the same family working for the same employer. It says something about the environment we foster that we have had multiple examples of this over the years. Reach out to us at [email protected] to learn more. #whm #womenshistorymonth

March is Women's History Month! We are proud to have nearly a third of our entire workforce made up of determined, intelligent, hardworking women who bring their refined skillsets to the job every day. The women below are representatives from many different sections within the Department including the Patrol Division, Community Engagement Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Special Operations Section and Office of the Chief. (Other women from across the department leapt into action for a call for service that occurred at the time the photo was taken and were unable to participate.) During the month of March, we will be recognizing and sharing the stories of women who have inspired the women of ACPD in their personal and professional lives. “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill With warmer weather finally in our sights, it’s crazy to think just how much one week can make a difference in temperature. One week ago, ACPD officers joined over 300 people to take a very ?? chilly ?? dip at Leesylvania State Park, to help raise money for the Special Olympics, during the 2025 Polar Plunge. #specialolympics #community #givingback #policing #morethanajob
