Create, showcase, and celebrate high school students work-based learning opportunities as defined by the Virginia Department of Education for full time and part time students at Arlington Career Center. Arlington Career Center is the career and technical high school for Arlington Public Schools in Virginia. ACC is looking for community businesses and organizations that will provide work based learning opportunities. What type of work-based learning experiences? 1. Arlington Tech Capstone Internships -Arlington Tech students complete a year-long, 280 hour Capstone internship and/or project their senior year to apply and advance their knowledge in a pursued career pathway in a real world setting. 2. PEP Program Internships - students complete year-long internships at a variety of Arlington County businesses and organizations. PEP students are ages 18-22 and complete internships on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 10 am. to 1 pm 3. Job Shadow - allows a student to follow and observe an employee in their role. Service Learning - direct service, indirect service, advocacy 4, Mentorship - provide guidance and direction to a mentee. 5. Externship - temporary job training, usually 6 weeks or less. 6. School Based Enterprise - an entrepreneurial operation within a school setting (ex. school store, student run credit union) 7. Entrepreneurship - helping a student set up a business. 8. Clinical Experience - actively involved with patients and their care. 9. Cooperative Education - combine classroom experience with practical, hands-on experience. 10. Youth Registered Apprentice - ages 16 and 17 - work-based learning through the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry. 11. Registered Apprenticeship - 18 years old > work-based learning through the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry. 12. Workshops - seminar, hands-on experience, sharing expertise. 13. Resume Building/Mock Interviews 14. Field Trips - on-site career exploration
