The U.S. Coast Guard is leading the way on #OperationalTechnology #cybersecurity for the #maritime sector, including #shipping and off-shore infrastructure! ?? ?? ?? Recently, Ark client Alison King, VP of #GovernmentAffairs at Forescout Technologies Inc. joined LCDR Christopher Reimer and colleagues from the #USCG: ?? Office of Design and Engineering Standards ?? Office of Operating and Environmental Standards ?? Office of Commercial Vessel Compliance, and? ?? Coast Guard Cyber Command We discussed emerging #OT vulnerabilities and explored effective practices for addressing these threats. As a fellow at both the McCrary Institute for Cyber & Critical Infrastructure Security and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), Alison shared valuable insights on current research and innovative solutions to #OT cybersecurity challenges. For the #CEO and #CRO, it's easy to justify another #sales body. Or product #engineer. But Ark is dedicated to the proposition that government affairs bears directly on business success, can be market-making (or closing), and is at times existential. Consider this new Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) from the Federal Communications Commission (#FCC) on undersea cables targeting #China & #Russia. https://lnkd.in/eTZsic7f Sure, worth paying attention to if you're a cable owner/investor like Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Alibaba Group, & Tencent. Or involved in manufacturing & deployment like SubCom, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, NEC Corporation, & ZTT Submarine Cable & System. ?? But what about a #defense company? Why would they care? Think about it. One reason that Kongsberg Maritime is so far ahead in #undersea #robotics is because Norway requires deep sea inspection of North Sea underwater energy infrastructure. That regulatory requirement is market-making! And resulted in #Kongsberg developing some of the best undersea mapping data for use in training undersea robotics. Now imagine if this #FCC rulemaking included similar market-making inspection requirements for #underseacables. It would be a boon to the submarine industrial base. All paid for by those #BigTech cable owner/operators. ? ? ? Are you paying attention Anduril Industries, Maritime Operations Group, VideoRay: underwater robots, Kraken Robotics, Deep Trekker Inc., Saildrone, & Ocean Aero Inc.?? Not all #lobbying needs to be a straight line to --> #appropriations. The best government affairs strategies create entirely new markets without ever lobbying for a single dime. ?? ? ?? ??

It's true. #Mississippi has momentum. In part, because of innovative and patriotic start-ups like Evolution Space, daring start-up Founder/CEOs like Steve Heller, and supportive public servants like those in the Office of Senator Roger F. Ark hit a major milestone in our voyage by arranging our first Congressional Delegation (CODEL) to an Ark client facility. ?
