Impacts are made in all sorts of ways. The next Impact Award winner, Tachina Frazier from the Pulaski South DHS office, is known for always striving to do more. She often goes beyond her expected responsibilities by stepping in for colleagues, consistently working on more difficult cases, and taking the lead in developing new projects when they arise. And she does all of this without any expectation of extra acknowledgment for her efforts. Well, that acknowledgment is here – in the form of the Impact Award! Congratulations, Tachina!

DHS gathered on Thursday for our annual Veterans Day ceremony here at Central Office, and to add a new class of inductees' portraits to the Veteran's Wall of Honor that lines the hallway just outside the Secretary's Office. This display of 217 portraits is a sincere tribute to hundreds of veterans who work throughout this agency. To honor the thousands of veterans in Arkansas and across the United States, all government offices will be closed today in observance of Veterans Day.

Union County’s own Terri Kilby is the ultimate team player and this week’s Impact Award winner. Her knowledge of case processing is surpassed only by her friendly, helpful attitude and willingness to ensure beneficiaries get everything they need, and she often works overtime to ensure problem cases are handled with the care and attention they need. Beyond that, her winning attitude and willingness to go above and beyond shows in her work. Terri leads by example and consistently demonstrates to coworkers and beneficiaries alike her unwavering compassion, professionalism, and dependability. DHS is interviewing candidates for the position of Director of Health Information Management (HIM) for the Arkansas State Hospital. This position ensures all HIM practices comply with Joint Commission and other regulatory oversight agencies, and the Director of HIM oversees budgeting, quality improvement, staff hiring, and evaluations. The next Impact Award winner is Wilma Gulley from Nevada County. Known for showing empathy and compassion to all her beneficiaries, Wilma often reaches out to them, going above and beyond what is required to ensure they receive the information they need. She is quick to offer help to her coworkers, ensure beneficiaries are well taken care of, and is available and willing to do anything asked of her. Her engaging spirit and willingness to help others is truly making an impact on both beneficiaries and coworkers alike. Congratulations Wilma!
