We have loved celebrating our 2024 ASN Honors recipients and their dedication to the inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities in our communities. The Pam Biesiot Memorial Scholarship honors the work of Pam Biesiot who dedicated her life to assisting people with disabilities. Pam was one of the “founding mothers” of Arkansas Support Network, and without her instrumental work and dedication, we would not be here today. Our goal is to find others who believe passionately that no one should live in an institution. This year the winner of the Pam Biesiot Memorial Scholarship was Hunter Joyce. Hunter graduated from the University of Arkansas in May with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in political science and minoring in History. He begins law school at the University of Arkansas this fall and hopes to help people with disabilities, like himself, obtain better access to community based supports through a more nationalized network, targeting the inequities of supports and services offered from state to state. Congratulations Hunter!

We're still celebrating the people and organizations in our communities that champion and empower people with disabilities! The Community Distinction Award honors those who have worked hard to support our vision for an inclusive community. Their efforts foster a culture of mutual aid, sharing, and empowerment, inspiring others through their commitment and passion. This year CareSource Passe partnered with us to ask how can we do this work better, how we can innovate community services and empower the people we support and ensure that people can live independent lives in the community the way that they want to. In honor of CareSource's willingness to ask how they can invest in finding ways to contribute to community building partnerships, we were excited to recognize them with the Community Distinction Award.
