Forming ad hoc committees to address timely issues that affect delivery of quality services. Development of association position statements that concern the membership.

  • Advocacy Update! We are aware of multiple Payer Related Concerns from our Members. Arkansas Speech Language Hearing Association (ArkSHA) is deeply concerned by recent reports from members regarding a decrease in reimbursement rates for in- network providers of Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. We understand that providers are continuing to experience high inflation costs and increasing practice expenses. Additionally, it has come to our attention that changes in the Arkansas Medicaid audit/review process for AAC applications are increasing denials. What Is ArkSHA Doing? ArkSHA has created an Ad Hoc Committee called “2024 Reimbursement / Payer Advocacy”. We are working diligently on gathering resources and information to develop an advocacy plan to address the issues that providers are experiencing. Additionally, we recently met with Meghan Ryan, MSL Director, Health Care Policy, Private Health Plans @ The American Speech-Language-Hearing(ASHA). ASHA recently supported the Connecticut Speech Language Hearing Association to assist in issues with Anthem CT. ArkSHA is committed to addressing member concerns regarding Payer-related issues across the state. Please reach out at arksha.org if you have related concerns or are experiencing issues with reimbursement. Arkansas Providers should carefully review reimbursement following changes in the fee schedule this year and determine how this has affected their practice. Providers need to respond individually to their representatives at Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield to express their concerns and report how the recent changes have impacted their practice. ArkSHA’s Ad Hoc Committee is currently working with ASHA to formulate a template letter for providers and we will need your support! Stay tuned for more updates and a template letter!

  • What a productive day at the 2024 Annual ArkSHA Board Retreat! ArkSHA is proud to introduce our new & returning Board Members and our State Advocates! Throughout the event, we had the privilege of exchanging insights and wisdom with some of the brightest minds in the field, all aimed at empowering audiologists and speech-language pathologists across the state. The collaborative spirit was truly infectious as we exchanged ideas and cemented planning for upcoming events. Our discussions yesterday have inspired us to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible for ArkSHA. As many of you know we are now a self-managed board which means that everything ArkSHA does is 100% volunteer-based. Last but not least, we cannot express enough how proud we are of the entire AUD & SLP community.
