The 5th grade Agriculture Scholars had a fantastic day volunteering with seniors at Arkansas Foodbank, bagging 4,500 lbs of potatoes into 5 lb bags. They also delivered 506 lbs of non-perishable food collected from our October Food Drive. After learning about food insecurity in September, the scholars hosted the drive and wrote thank-you notes to the AR Food Bank for their efforts against hunger. Despite being the top rice producer in the nation, Arkansas ranks number one for food insecurity. Additionally, the scholars created encouraging notes for 150 bags of donated food delivered monthly to senior shut-ins in our community! #HungerActionMonth #Volunteer #Philanthrophy #HungerRelief

We're so proud of our Freight Farms Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and for earning the 2024 Arkansas School Garden Award for Best Harvest Partnership Garden! Secretary Wes Ward proudly proclaimed Farm to School Month here at our campus, as well as announced the School Garden Awards. Thank you to everyone who celebrated along with us, made this event possible, and for sharing in our mission of agricultural education in the Natural State. This exciting event marks the beginning of a new era in how we educate our students about food production, environmental responsibility, and cutting-edge technology. The Freight Farm is a self-contained farming system that will allow students to grow fresh produce and plants year-round, fostering a deeper understanding of both science and sustainability while providing nutritious food for our community. This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Dr. Sarper Turker, the dedicated superintendent of Arkansas Lighthouse Charter Schools. With a passion for education that spans over 16 years, Dr. Turker is committed to fostering an environment where both students and teachers can thrive. He's a dedicated member of several professional organizations, including NCTM, AAEA, AASA, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. This year, he is honored to have been accepted into the National Superintendent Certification Program. Throughout his career, Dr. Turker has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to education, having earned multiple Teacher of the Year awards. This year, he looks forward to presenting at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics - NCTM Conference in Chicago, where he will inspire fellow educators with his innovative approaches to teaching and learning. #StaffSpotlight #Education #ArkansasEducation
