On February 25, 2025, the Trump Administration made a surprise announcement that introduced a “Gold Card” program, with verbal commentary that suggested it would replace the highly successful EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. The announcement has caused understandable concern and confusion among both current and prospective EB-5 investors. Very few details exist regarding the proposal at this time beyond ad hoc comments at yesterday’s news conference. It’s official: Arkansas is among the worst states for startups ?? But it doesn’t have to be this way. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “The [National Business Capital] study found Arkansas had an average of 8.9 SBA loan approvals per 100,000 people… The report’s best ranked state, Colorado, had 30.4 SBA loan approvals... — more than triple Arkansas’ rate.” We’re working with borrowers across Arkansas to bring the advantages of SBA lending to the rural and underserved communities across the state. “It’s simply a matter of education” says Craig Calafati, EVP and Director of Lending of ACC, a non-bank, non-profit SBA lender. “As lenders, we must do a better job of enlightening the public as to the many virtues of SBA lending. This goes for banks as well. Many are afraid to recommend the programs to their customers because they don’t know much about the loans, requirements, and benefits to their customers. By talking to and educating banks in the state, we hope to enlighten them to help their customers take advantage of programs that can fill the void left by the conventional lending products the banks have relied on for years.
