Part 3: Biggest Issue For Amateur Golfers - Loss Of Posture The other reason golfers lose posture is because they can't turn at their major rotational joints. If you can't turn, your body finds another way to get the clubhead all the way back - coming out of posture. Part 3: Common Problem In The Golf Swing: Sway - Hip Strength and Mobility Another reason you may sway in the golf swing - you are compensating for a weak or stiff hip. If you can't generate power by rotating around your trail hip, you may shift your weight backwards to get more of your body behind the club. If you can't slow down your trunk or run out of room to turn into your lead hip, you may shift your weight forward to give more space to move the club through the ball. Part 2: Common Problem In The Golf Swing: Sway - Balance Poor balance on either leg can cause issues in both areas of your swing. In the backswing it will cause you to hit behind or "up" on the ball, which is great for driver but not for irons. In the follow-through it can cause you to slow down your swing so you aren't stepping out of your swing when you lose balance on your lead foot.
