City of Phoenix and the City of Phoenix Housing Department were invited to a roundtable discussion today with Congressman Ruben Gallego and Lina Khan, Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Housing Director, Titus Mathew, along with several community housing partners was able to share insight regarding challenges presented to renters and solutions to address their needs in Arizona. Today, ADOH Director Joan Serviss hosted the Western States Executive Director's Conference. At this annual event, hosted in different cities in the west, state housing directors from the western U.S. meet to exchange ideas and strategies on finding innovative ways to build more affordable housing in our region of the country.

ADOH is proud to fund $2 million toward this affordable homeownership project in South Phoenix!

Full circle moment today! I got the opportunity to speak on behalf of Arizona Department of Housing at the kick-off for Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (habitatcaz)’s newest development in the City of Phoenix. This project will provide access to affordable homeownership to 25 families and is 1 of 3 Habitat projects receiving critical funding from ADOH! ADOH is committed to addressing Arizona’s housing needs across the housing continuum and this project will increase access to that final piece of the puzzle: affordable, homeownership! Just a couple years ago I was organizing volunteering efforts with my friends & family to assist in building Habitat homes.. (pics below) Hopefully we can all get together for another volunteer session this winter to help build these new units! ??

Congratulations to Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona (habitatcaz) on today's kickoff for the Alta Vista Ranch neighborhood! ADOH funded $2 million from the State Housing Trust Fund toward this new development in South Phoenix near 16th Street and Southern Avenue consisting of 25 new affordable, single-family homes. Four homes are under construction (check out the aerial photo) and families are scheduled to move in to their new homes and take ownership in December 2024. Pouring on the remaining slabs begins in a couple weeks. ADOH Affordable Housing Programs Manager Carson Folk spoke at the event about the state's commitment to continue finding ways to make homeownership more affordable for more Arizonans like this amazing project at Alta Vista Ranch.

Right now, ADOH Affordable Housing Tax Credit Administrator Melanie Brewer (pictured second from right) is participating on a panel at the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) annual conference being held this week in Phoenix discussing how other states can copy Arizona's successful STATE tax credit program to develop more housing for their respective states. Nearly 1300 affordable housing advocates are in town for the conference.
