With proposed federal budget cuts reigniting discussions on healthcare spending, it’s critical to focus on fixing inefficiencies. One of the biggest inefficiencies in healthcare today is something we rarely talk about enough: medications. When people aren’t on the right medications (or aren’t taking them properly), it drives avoidable hospitalizations and complications – all together resulting in $528 billion per year in unnecessary spending. As Arine co-founder and CEO Yoona Kim shared in The Wall Street Journal, our work is about helping the healthcare system get this right. We’ve been through policy changes before, and we’ll go through them again. What remains constant is the need for smarter and more efficient care. If we focus on getting the medications right, the economics will follow. Curious to hear how others are thinking about this – what solutions do you see as most critical in the face of these changes? Thank you, Brian Gormley, for your coverage on this important topic. Matthew Loper Bill Evans Rock Health

We’re thrilled to share the publication of our latest study in AJMC - The American Journal of Managed Care, exploring how a nurse-led, risk-based, personalized care program with specialty pharmacy services improved the duration of therapy and outcomes among ovarian cancer patients. Special thanks to our partner, Biologics by McKesson for their collaboration and support in making this research possible. Together, we are driving meaningful improvements in cancer care. ??Key Findings: - Patients with a care plan had significantly longer therapy durations compared to those without (6.7 vs. 4.9 months). - The care plan reduced the risk of therapy discontinuation by 23% - Symptom resolution and dose modifications within the care plan group led to therapy durations approximately 2.5x longer These results highlight the power of nurse-led care management with a specific focus on medication to improve outcomes, as well as the importance of risk stratification for optimizing resources and improving clinical efficiency. How might same-day prescription delivery impact patient care? In a recent interview with @HIT Consultant, Yoona Kim, co-founder of Arine, delves into the complexities of ultra-fast #prescriptiondelivery services, like Amazon Pharmacy’s same-day delivery. While these services enhance medication access and convenience, Yoona highlights critical concerns around their impact on medication safety, overprescribing, and polypharmacy. ?? With 1 in 5 adults taking five or more #medications, the risks of adverse drug interactions, medication mismanagement, and even hospitalization are rising. Yoona explains how fragmented medication tracking and automated prescription refills can lead to patients receiving unnecessary or even harmful medications, exacerbating issues like polypharmacy. AI-powered platforms like Arine help clinicians: ? monitor medications ? prevent dangerous drug interactions ? identify duplicate medications This enables more personalized care for each patient's unique circumstances, ultimately ensuring better outcomes. As healthcare technology advances, she emphasizes the importance of striking the balance between convenience and patient safety, which is more important than ever.
