Wow, what a week! Yesterday, we wrapped up the SHAAR Healthcare Innovation Hub program, and it’s hard to fully capture how impactful it was. Without a doubt, one of the most professional programs I’ve experienced—felt like an entire year of business school packed into just one week. The Czech Republic's startup ecosystem is rapidly growing, solidifying its position as a leading innovation hub in Central and Eastern Europe with total investment surging 37% in 2024, reaching CZK 16.6 billion (€675 million). (CzechCrunch) In 2024, the Czech Republic surpassed Poland and Russia to rank third in Eastern Europe for its startup ecosystem and saw its third company achieve unicorn status. In Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 Central Europe 2024 report Czech companies dominated the list taking 17 out of 50 spots, more than any other country in the region. Yet, scaling beyond local success remains a challenge. While Czech startups excel in deep tech and AI, success requires more than great innovation, technology, or founders.
