Who or what are you allowing to limit you? Are the voices around you collaborating with you to dream up possibilities/solutions? Or are they bringing laundry lists of why something is impossible? You get to decide what opinions shape your future. #aridai #wordofwisdom #leadership

Today, we honor the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Indigenous communities across the Americas. We would like to specifically acknowledge the ancestral land of the Piscataway and Nacotchtank, which Aridai calls home. As we celebrate Indigenous peoples' resilience, we want to also recognize the systemic oppression that has created obstacles in the first place: loss of land, environmental racism, cultural erasure, lack of access to adequate healthcare, economic inequality, violence (especially the epidemic of murdered and missing Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people that remains widely unacknowledged) and more. We encourage you to learn more about the triumphs they've achieved and the obstacles that they continue to face. As a start, if you're curious about what Indigenous land you call home, take a look at this interactive map and learn more: https://native-land.ca/ #aridai #indigenouspeoplesday

ICYMI: Our Founder & Managing Partner, Ruth L., was featured in Washington Business Journal last week! In the article, she shared her perspective on the decline of Black women leaders in the nonprofit sector. Read more about her thoughts here: https://bit.ly/3U7Eiw2 #leadership #blackwomeninnonprofitleadership #organizationaldevelopment #aridai
“I think that the nonprofit industry and the philanthropic industry has to ask itself a question: Are we smart because we can write? Are we smart because we can think? Or are we smart because we can do?” Gratitude to Caitlin Lyons at the Washington Business Journal for being so curious and diligent.

Amid Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to highlight efforts being made to address and eradicate cancer-related disparities affecting Black women, especially in the communities we serve. Our client, Black Women Thriving East of the River, is doing just that in Wards 7 & 8, where 87% of residents are Black and have the highest cancer incidence and mortality rates in the District. Through their Patient Navigation interventions, they are working to reduce cancer-related disparities among Black women living east of the Anacostia River by: 1) Enhancing and broadening the patient navigation system to ensure seamless support for Black women navigating cancer care. 2) Implementing strategies to combat the intersection of anti-Black racism and sexism in healthcare settings. 3) Promoting the understanding and recognition of the importance of patient navigation among healthcare providers and the community. We are so proud of the work that BWEOTR is doing to eradicate cancer in our community! #aridai #breastcancerawarenessmonth #eastoftheanacostiariver #racialequityinhealthcare

Let's Talk about NAICS Codes!? ? A NAICS code is a classification within the North American Industry Classification System. The NAICS System was developed for use by Federal Statistical Agencies for the collection, analysis and publication of statistical data related to the US Economy. ? According to the U.S. Census Bureau, NAIC codes were developed to allow for a high level of comparability in business statistics among the three North American countries. When businesses utilize NAIC codes, they can gain access to contract bids and tax incentives. Aridai's NAIC codes are 541611, 541612, 611430, 541519, and 561410. #aridai #naicscodes #naics #businessdevelopment

Happy National Latinx Heritage Month from Aridai! From September 15th to October 15th, we honor the vibrant cultures, rich histories, and countless contributions of Latinx communities in the US and globally. This month is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse voices and experiences that make up Latinx heritage. We would especially like to honor our own Latinx team members: Ruth L. and Diego Gonzalez Portillo, who proudly identify as Afro-Cuban & Puerto Rican and Salvadoran, respectively. Diego shared what Latinx Heritage Month means to him: "Latinx Heritage Month means recognizing that we are unstoppable, fueled by the strength of those who came before us. It is about sacrifice, love, passion, and an unbreakable joy that flows through our veins. This is a time to embrace who I am, who we are, with unyielding pride. This month is a call to live boldly, authentically, and unapologetically at 110%—to honor the legacy of our roots, to embody the power and beauty of our culture, and to stand tall in our truth. This is our time to shine, to celebrate, and to keep pushing forward, knowing that our spirit is fierce, our love is deep, and our future is limitless." This month (and every month), we encourage you to support Latinx businesses, amplify Latinx voices, and collaborate toward the limitless future Diego envisions. #aridai #latinxheritagemonth
