The recent election results in United States and focusing in Florida have brought significant concerns for the LGBTQ+ and transgender communities, especially those of us who live openly as transgender individuals and, like myself, with a positive HIV status. As Florida has shifted to a solidly red state, we anticipate changes in policies, services, and even employment that could limit access and support for our most vulnerable. This election has shown a clear response to the previous administration, and as a community, we must be prepared for a challenging four years. Our work against discrimination and harmful laws will only intensify as we stand up for basic civil and human rights. For many transgender and gender-nonconforming people, this isn’t new—we have long faced being unwelcomed at the decision-making table, where our voices are often minimized. This election underscores the importance of trans-led leadership. As experts in navigating spaces where we’re not always welcome, we’re ready to face these challenges head-on. As CEO of Arianna’s Center, I am committed to advocating for a more inclusive future. Arianna’s Center has a long track record of providing essential services, such as housing, healthcare, and legal support, for the transgender community in Florida and beyond. Regardless of these political shifts, we’re here to create intentional change and to push for meaningful conversations that prioritize our community’s well-being. Let’s unite, fund organizations that do the work, and focus on real impact. Difficult times lie ahead, but together, we are resilient and powerful. Arianna Lint

关于我们
Arianna's Center engages, empowers, and lifts up the trans community of South Florida. We place a special emphasis on the most marginalized, including the Trans Latinx community, undocumented immigrants, people living with HIV and AIDS, and those who have experienced incarceration. We deliver key services through an integrated case management model. We work one-on-one with each client to provide a comprehensive set of services uniquely tailored to meet individual needs. Many of our clients begin working with us to gain access to legal name/gender change services and/or access to transition-related care. During our initial intake, clients identify their priorities and share their life experiences. We ensure through prompts and questions in the initial assessment that we emerge with a holistic understanding of each client’s needs and priorities around immigration, HIV risk, incarceration, and domestic violence.

On National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, we honor the vital work of Arianna’s Center, an organization founded by Arianna Lint, a transgender Latina and HIV advocate. Arianna’s Center provides critical services to the Trans Latinx community, particularly those living with HIV, undocumented immigrants, and individuals facing incarceration or ICE detention. Since its founding in 2015, the center has made a significant impact in South Florida and Puerto Rico, offering HIV testing, prevention programs, housing assistance, and advocacy for the most marginalized communities. Arianna Lint’s leadership has not only uplifted the trans community but also brought much-needed visibility to the challenges facing Latinx individuals living with HIV. She has collaborated with major media outlets, including NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises , to amplify these voices and raise awareness on a national scale. Lint’s advocacy emphasizes dismantling stigma, expanding access to HIV prevention tools like PrEP, and ensuring inclusive healthcare. As we recognize the Latinx community’s resilience and fight against HIV, we must continue to support leaders like Arianna Lint, whose work moves us closer to ending the epidemic within marginalized communities. Together, we can build a future where HIV no longer disproportionately affects our community Arianna’s Center Team.

National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness

This week has been pivotal in our national efforts to advance HIV prevention, emphasizing the critical role of health equity in the successful implementation of the Biden-Harris Administration’s National HIV/AIDS Strategy. Yesterday, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced an award of $10 million to five health departments (i.e., Baltimore City Health Department, City of Houston, Florida Department of Health, Oklahoma State Health Department, and South Carolina Department of Health). This funding aims to enhance progress among populations underserved, focusing on Black and Latine gay/bi men, transgender women, and Black cisgender women. Each recipient will craft tailored strategies to overcome local barriers to PrEP utilization, innovating beyond the established successes of the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) initiative. This includes new flexibilities in funding, allowing for the coverage of PrEP medications’ costs (a first for CDC HIV funding!) when other funds are unavailable. I am eager to see how the lessons learned from these efforts will shape our ongoing and future HIV prevention strategies nationwide. https://lnkd.in/dg2DcPJk CDC also recently launched PrEPared / PrEParado, a new social marketing initiative under the Let’s Stop HIV Together campaign to encourage conversations about PrEP between Black and Latine gay/bi men and their providers. https://lnkd.in/dyNQ6t_3 https://lnkd.in/dxCVaiCw Additionally, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services finalized a National Coverage Determination that marks a significant advancement in our healthcare system—covering Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medications under Medicare Part B without cost-sharing. This coverage is comprehensive, including FDA-approved PrEP options (oral and injectable), individual counseling sessions, routine HIV screenings, and Hepatitis B virus screenings. This decision is a monumental step in ensuring that more members of our communities, especially our older population, have unhindered access to critical preventive services. https://lnkd.in/dQh4m7-b All of these actions underscore a fundamental principle: while we possess the science and tools to prevent HIV, true success requires that everyone has access to these advancements. PrEP is a game changer, but only if everyone’s able to get in the game. #PrEP #HIV #Prevention #PrEPared #PrEParado #StopHIVTogether #DetengamosJuntosElVIH

As part of #HispanicHeritageMonth2024, and ahead of #NationalLatinxAIDSAwarenessDay coming up on Oct 15, I asked a dynamic group of HIV advocates to come together for a frank conversation to discuss all the issues effecting our Latine community when it comes to HIV and sexual health. I'm seriously in love with all these people: Arianna Lint, Natalie Sanchez, MPH, Daniel G Garza, David Ernesto Munar, Elias Diaz, and Guillermo Chacon. Please check out and share this fantastic roundtable, published on TheBody.com. https://lnkd.in/eWDH_j8E
