An alarming 18.7% plunge in farms surrounding our largest urban centers isn't just a statistic—it's a critical loss of food, health, and community connection. But amidst this decline, Area 2 Farms is the counter-narrative. We're not just building new local farms, we're building and empowering communities. We're not just growing food, we're cultivating a healthier, more resilient future for our cities, one #farm at a time.

Benjamin Franklin published the first Poor Richard's Almanack on?December 28, 1732, and continued to publish new editions for 25 years. Many are familiar with his witty aphorisms, many of which have become part of American folklore, such as: "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." "A penny saved is two pence clear." "God helps them that help themselves." Poor Richard's Almanack was published under the pseudonym?Richard Saunders?to distance Franklin from potentially controversial or satirical content.?However, Poor Richard?emerged as a powerful symbol of American values such as frugality, hard work, and common sense. While modern technology and sophisticated forecasting models are widely used by?#farmers?today, almanacs remain a part of our lives. 1) Farmers use almanacs for long-term planning and to make decisions about planting schedules, management, and overall farm operations. 2)Farmers appreciate the folklore and traditional wisdom embedded in almanacs. 3)Farmers find comfort in their connection to the past, a sense of community and tradition that transcends modern technology.

The veneer of "fresh" at the #grocery store has been exposed as nothing more than a brittle multi-modal transportation network. This system is not good for farmers, the environment, or people. Almost half of our basic goods, including fresh produce, come through ports that are now essentially closed, and Americans are seeing prices increase and quality decline. It's never been more essential to take control and build the local food system we need. Moving the #farm, NOT the #food, ensures you get what is good directly from the source. https://lnkd.in/eieyeT7b
