What are the 4 phases of the #CMMC rollout you ask? Each phase focuses on a different aspect of CMMC to transition DoD contractors to this program. ? Phase 1 will focus on Level 1 self-assessments. ? Phase 2 will focus on third-party assessments. This means that we will see Level 2 certification requirements as a condition of award in applicable solicitations. ? Phase 3 focuses on rolling out Level 3 certifications, conducted by the Government. It will take effect in applicable solicitations sometime after Phase 2. ? Phase 4 fully implements CMMC and requires it as a condition of award in all applicable solicitations. With this understanding, we highly recommend you pursue your Level 2 assessment now. We have already seen Level 2 requirements incorporated as proposed measures for solicitations; for example, the upcoming Marketplace for the Acquisition of Professional Services (MAPS) IDIQ (a $50B initiative) has a requirement for a Level 2 certification in their drafts for extra self-score points. How many CCAs are required for an assessment? 3 total CCAs are required. One lead, one on the assessment team, and one CCA not on the assessment acting as quality control. ? 2. What happens to an organization waiting for a JVSA from DIBCAC after the rule goes into effect 14 Dec? That organization can choose their C3PAO of choice and conduct a CMMC assessment immediately. They even have the option right now to say no to an assessment from DIBCAC and wait for 14 December. ? 3. What are the changes to requirements for a lead assessor? Certifications are now king. The DoDM 8140.03 chart provides multiple options for proficiency levels, but our conversations with the officials proved that the certification trumps all options. Make sure you get your certs for the required proficiency levels for a CCP, CCA and lead CCA. ? As a DoD Contractor, it's paramount you implement these requirements. CMMC BREAKING NEWS: A new proposed DFARS rule aims to include a provision in solicitations that clearly outlines CMMC requirements for contractors. As part of the CMMC program, the DoD plans to mandate that contractors either self-assess their cybersecurity compliance or obtain third-party certification, depending on the sensitivity of the contract data. This proposed rule confirms that contractors will need to submit their self-assessment or certification at the time of the contract award. Based on previous DoD rulemaking timelines, the three-year DFARS rollout could start as early as summer 2025. By the end of the three-year rollout, the DoD expects that 35% of contractors handling sensitive data—approximately 10,340 entities—will need to obtain a "level two" CMMC third-party certification. Meanwhile, around 65% of applicable contracts will only require a "level one" self-assessment, according to DoD’s analysis.
