ARCUS facilitates cross-boundary Arctic knowledge, research, communication, and education in the US across the globe.
关于我们
The Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. (ARCUS), based in Fairbanks, Alaska, was formed in 1988 as a nonprofit member consortium of educational and scientific institutions that have a substantial commitment to arctic research. ARCUS facilitates discussion of important arctic research initiatives, produces science reports with research community recommendations for arctic science priorities, and distributes information resources to the arctic research community. ARCUS activities are funded through member dues and contracts and grants with federal and private entities. ARCUS is a non-profit corporation consisting of institutions organized and operated for educational, professional, or scientific purposes. An institution is considered eligible for membership in ARCUS if it has made a definitive, substantial, and continuing commitment to a coherent research program or course of studies leading to degrees in one or more disciplines associated with Arctic research or related fields. The representatives of member institutions constitute the Council of ARCUS and elect the Board of Directors.

Strategies Toward Indigenous-Led Research: Be a Changemaker in Arctic Research at Every State of Your Career The Navigating the New Arctic Fostering Indigenous Led Research FILR team?https://lnkd.in/eNVe45wt?wanted to send along the promotion for our training for the newsletter. This is during Arctic Science Summit Week and the Navigating the New Arctic Community Meeting March 21st?9am-6pm hybrid. This workshop is co-hosted by NNA’s Convergent Working Groups on Fostering Indigenous-Led Research and Arctic Observing Systems and Technologies. It is intended for arctic researchers of all career stages with an early morning session focused on graduate students and early career. Session One focuses on how to make positive progress towards the co-production of knowledge, especially once “the train has already left the station” for any given project. Special consideration for the role graduate students may play is centered in this session. Session Two will identify the trappings of cultural reductionism and process control in Arctic research systems, along with determining pathways for researchers, especially PIs, to hold themselves accountable. Session Three will focus on low-cost, open-source tech solutions that researchers can share with community members to engage in long-term monitoring and other community-driven projects. Session Four is a facilitated discussion to provide context for those from outside of Arctic Indigenous communities who intend to work in these areas, and help researchers develop the tools and self-awareness they will need to be more successful.
