Live on the site: Henry Moore, David Sylvester, Tate Gallery, 1968 A rare catalogue created for a David Sylvester produced exhibition of Moore's work at Tate Gallery London. Produced in collaboration with The Arts Council of London, this stunning book features a chronology of Moore's career with his body of work separated into different periods and focuses of his work. Stunning black and white images of his sculpture. We love anything having to do with David Sylvester, who we will probably feature in a future post. Soft cover, 179 pages, Some wear to edges, some creasing on spine and interior pages. Overall a stunning book.? #archivism #modernism #design #interiordesign #architecture #modernhome #homedecor #vintagebooks #henrymoore

Live on the site: Serge Mouille: Luminaires, Le Regard D'Alan Editions, 1993 This exceptional book detailing work of the late great French designer, Serge Mouille, was created to commemorate an auction put on by Alan Grizot. A beautiful book that includes black and white images of his work along with exhibition information. Kenzo. "An expected edition On october, 6th. 1991, took place, at Drout Montaigne, under the hammer of Ma?tre Binoche, the "Alan's Eye" auction. An exceptional collection of objects by famous designers from the 1950's, was then dispersed. It represented the consecration of a work initiated more than ten years ago, to make the public rediscover this era. During the sale, an important amount of pieces (20) were acquired by museums: Georges Pompidou Center (CCI) and the National Fund of Contemporary Art (FNAC)." #archivism #modernism #design #interiordesign #architecture #modernhome #homedecor #madeinusa #vintagebooks #vintagedesignbooks #SergeMouille

Live on the site: Katsura: Tradition and Creation in Japanese Architecture, Gropius, Tange and Ishimoto, 1960 Originally published by Yale University Press in 1960, "Katsura: Tradition and Creation of Japanese Architecture" is the most significant photographic publication about the relationship of modernity and tradition in postwar Japan. Designed by famed Bauhaus graphic artist Herbert Bayer, "Katsura" comprises 135 black-and-white photographs by Ishimoto Yasuhiro depicting the 17th-century Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto, with essays by architects Walter Gropius and Tange Kenzo. The first edition is the only one featuring Gropius as a contributor, making it the most desirable. After its publication and Gropius's passing, the original film negatives were damaged and had to be reshot. Without his approval of the changes, his involvement was omitted. #archivism #modernism #design #interiordesign #architecture #modernhome #homedecor #madeinusa

Live on the site: La Ferronnerie, Exposition Des Arts Decoratifs Paris, 1926 An incredible portfolio created for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes—the first major design exhibition in post-war France—this event became a defining showcase of decorative architectural ironwork that defined the Art Deco movement in France. It featured works from many of the country’s most prominent creatives, including early pieces by a young Jean Prouvé, who, in the same year, established his first workshop dedicated to wrought iron craftsmanship and fabrication. Other work featured from; Piguest, Schenck, Subes, Baguès Frères, Ruhlmann, Brandt, Lévy, Desvallières, Dufrène, Szabo, and others. This is the oldest publication (1926) in our collection and has wear appropriate for its age. It still has its original fabric ties which are typically missing. #archivism #modernism #design #interiordesign #architecture #modernhome #homedecor #madeinusa #jeanprouve
