Over her impressive 20 years with the firm, Emily has emerged as a highly regarded architect, whose clients benefit from her dedication to the whole project. She focuses on bringing our clients’ visions to life, from initial design through construction. As a mentor, she encourages and supports emerging designers, creating learning opportunities to grow and develop the a+ team. As a project architect and manager, Emily has developed a diverse skill set that enhances environments for higher education, community, and mental healthcare projects. ?? HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR ?? January 29, 2025 ?? Year of the Snake Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year, is typically celebrated in China and other Asian countries. It begins with the first new moon of the lunar calendar and lasts for 15 days, ending on the first full moon. (The lunar calendar is based on the cycles of the moon, so the dates of the holiday vary slightly from year to year.) In preparation, homes are cleaned to remove bad luck. New Year’s Eve and Day are for family celebrations and ancestor ceremonies. Family members receive red envelopes (lai see) with money. Festivities include dances, fireworks, and the Lantern Festival on the last day, featuring colorful lanterns and traditional foods. The festival's origins are steeped in legends that are thousands or years old, including that of Nian, a beast believed to be frightened away by red decorations, loud noises, and firecrackers.
