From iconic buildings to community-centered designs, their work has left a lasting mark on our world. Let’s shine a light on: • Paul R. Williams, whose timeless designs defined Los Angeles.. • Norma Merrick Sklarek, a trailblazer who broke barriers as the first Black woman licensed as an architect in the U.S. • Sir David Adjaye, whose contemporary designs tell powerful stories of culture and identity. Their creativity and resilience inspire us to build a future where architecture reflects the beauty of diversity. We’re excited to share the latest update on our family housing project located off Forest Hill Drive in Annapolis, MD! Construction is progressing steadily on all three buildings, including the site work off Skippers Lane, and we’re thrilled to see this development take shape. Currently, Building 1 is the furthest along, with PVC trim completed on roof eaves and around porches, brick base coursing finished, and the building is ready for drywall. Composite decking is installed on the patios of the first and second buildings, including front-facing units and covered patios/decks. Insulation is fully installed in Building 1, while Buildings 2 and 3 are finishing up their MEP rough-ins stages. All three buildings are roofed, sealed, and have windows installed, with doors nearly complete in Building 1. Excitement is building at Little Patuxent Senior - our newest lease-up community in partnership with Green Street Housing! Construction is moving along swiftly, and our team was onsite earlier this week to tour the community and get a sneak peek of a model apartment. This brand new development will bring 78 affordable senior apartments to the Gambrills area of Anne Arundel County. The ABD team celebrated the holidays and the end of 2024 by coming together and touring several of our projects that were under construction throughout the past year. We traveled from Doverbrook in Easton, Slippery Hill 1, 2, and 3 in Grasonville, Willows at Forest Drive in Annapolis, and Village at Little Patuxent in Gambrills, while stopping for a celebratory lunch in between. It’s been an incredible journey seeing these communities come to life and each of us seeing what our team's hard work has accomplished. Thank you to the contractor and management teams for allowing us to visit the project sites. As we step into 2025, we are energized and excited to continue our work alongside our amazing clients, consultants, and design/construction industry partners. Together, we look forward to creating more high-quality, affordable housing across Maryland and beyond, strengthening communities and providing homes for those who need them most. We’re thrilled to share the latest update on our Doverbrook townhouses and apartments project in Easton, MD! The project is moving forward steadily, bringing us closer to delivering these high-quality homes and a revitalized community space for future residents to enjoy within the new year. The two townhome buildings featuring 16 townhouses with 2 and 3 bedrooms are finalizing exterior siding and trim, while moving forward with drywall and painting on the interiors. The three apartment buildings (48 apartment units offering 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedrooms) are further along with interior finishes being installed. Things like vinyl plank flooring, durable casework, stone counters and new energy efficient appliances and lighting is all being put in and bringing these spaces to life. The renovation of an existing single story wood-framed community building is also progressing with the addition under roof, along with interior framing wrapping up and creating a main larger community room and gathering spaces for the new residents to use upon completion. This project is a collaboration with the developer, Pennrose and their partners, Ingerman Construction Management, LLC as the contractor, KCW Engineering Technologies as the civil engineer and our other consultants. The renovation and expansion work has officially begun on our project, Point at Smithsburg! Located in Smithsburg, MD, this project includes the renovation of (40) existing 2 & 3 bedroom townhouses, along with the addition of two new apartments over existing units, which will also be converted to meet UFAS accessibility requirements. The community consists of (6) two-story buildings, with a major addition also planned for the community building. This project will modernize and revitalize the neighborhood, delivering safe, energy-efficient, and accessible housing for residents while supporting the Washington County area’s affordable housing needs. Some exciting news! The second and third phases at The Village of Slippery Hill celebrated their ribbon cutting the other week! All 66 family units and 54 senior units are now being leased up and are added to the campus of the first phase units.    Thank you for inviting ABD to the celebration! We'd like to thank owners/developers, TM Associates , Green Street Housing, the general contractors Harkins Builders, Inc., the civil engineer, Lane Engineering, LLC and all other trade partners for making this project happen and bringing more housing to Queen Anne's County area just across the Bay Bridge east of Annapolis.
