Several months ago, Daylight Advisors launched a survey to better understand who philanthropy advisors are and how they work. We are grateful to the 258 respondents that took the time to share their experiences. We are pleased to share the results of our survey,?U.S.Philanthropic Advisors 2024: Professional Development, Practice, and Knowledge Gaps. Some highlights of the report: * Respondents helped facilitate almost $13 billion in charitable giving last year, with an individual average of $50 million. * New advisors were primarily female (65%) and in their 30s (38%).?Over half of those new to philanthropic advising were Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC). * New and senior advisors named DAFs among their most commonly used charitable tools. * When asked to rate their knowledge in key skill areas, respondents reported levels of expertise that increased with experience, with two exceptions: 1) financial capital development, and 2) diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), intercultural, and wealth dynamics. ? This research is just one step toward our aim to build a more visible and trusted field with shared core competencies and a learning community. In a few months, we will be releasing our Impact Philanthropy Advisor (IPA) Certificate to support advisor practice and client engagement.
