Pierre Paul, founder and CEO of We Hear You, Inc, recently shared his expertise on crafting compelling pitches with student entrepreneurs at the WashU Skandalaris Center for Interdisciplinary Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Known for his exceptional public speaking abilities and community-first approach, Pierre combines technical innovation with a unique worldview that makes him an outstanding mentor for aspiring entrepreneurs. When you hear him deliver a presentation, you don’t soon forget it! Pierre’s goal for the evening was to help WashU’s student founders refine their messages, connect with their audience, present with confidence, and have fun while doing it. His advice for delivering a compelling presentation included: ? Practice your pitch. Your practice audience will give you advice to consider, and if you can awkwardly deliver your pitch in front of your roommate, you can do it in front of decision makers. ? Stay in control. Q&A can sometimes throw you a curve ball. Remember to stay on message, show you appreciate each question, and admit if you don’t know an answer but commit to follow up. ? Expect the unexpected. Sometimes presentations don’t go as planned (A/V issues is one example). Shake it off, keep going, and the audience will be rooting for you. Pierre is not just building innovative accessibility technology through his 2023 Arch Grants portfolio company. He's also paying it forward by helping the next generation of founders communicate their vision confidently and effectively.
