This week, we are shining the?Women in Facilities?spotlight on Monisa Manju Nagarajan Gomathi, CFM, FMP, SFP, FMG! MJ’s journey into facility management started with an engineering mindset and a passion for efficiency. From optimizing manufacturing processes in India to bringing lean methodologies and Six Sigma to FM in the U.S., she has built a career eliminating inefficiencies and improving operations. Now a project manager at Terracon, MJ specializes in operational enhancements—especially in healthcare, municipal, and commercial spaces. She’s also a strong advocate for women in FM and the role of technology in transforming the industry. "Many people don’t realize they can pursue a career in facility management," MJ explained, acknowledging the underrepresentation of women in the industry. "And even after entering the field, women sometimes struggle to be taken seriously. Confidence is key—if you’re not confident in your knowledge, others won’t take you seriously. I’ve found success by having open conversations with teams, making it clear that I’m here to support them, not take over their jobs. I’m here to make their work easier."
