Arc is an award-winning, nationally recognized after school and experiential education provider in southern California. We bridge the opportunity gap by creating transformational learning opportunities that empower youth to realize their full potential. Arc is proud to offer a variety of programs for K-12 youth, as well as college-aged students and working professionals. The services we provide range from after school comprehensive programs to leadership development retreats featuring adventure activities. In each of our programs, we place an emphasis on experiential learning, life skills acquisition and team building, as well as engagement with the natural world and the local community. This week, the U.S. Department of Education announced a reduction in force impacting nearly 50% of the Department’s workforce. According to a Department press release, the agency “will continue to deliver on all statutory programs that fall under the agency’s purview, including formula funding, student loans, Pell Grants, funding for special needs students, and competitive grantmaking.” That means funding for local afterschool and summer learning programs through 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Title I, Title IV Part A, and Full Service Community Schools will continue to be supported at the federal level. Empathy in Action – Presented by Kevin Cervantes & Nitze Ramos ?? Avoiding Burnout – Presented by Carmen Alvarez & Jour'Dan Peters We had an amazing time sharing our knowledge and connecting with such enthusiastic participants! ???? A huge thank you to the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles for this incredible opportunity—we are already looking forward to next year! ???
Our students had an incredible time at the California School-Age Consortium (CalSAC) 21st Annual California Afterschool & Summer Challenge in Sacramento! ? They passionately advocated for afterschool funding by marching through the streets ??? and speaking directly with legislators and their representatives. ??? We couldn’t be prouder of their dedication and leadership! ? We met with Assemblymember Jeff Gonzalez and representatives from the offices of Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi, Senator Ben Allen, Assemblymember Sade Elhawary, and Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares. Our SCs and Training Team had an amazing time at the California AfterSchool Network SC Symposium. Our SCs learned a lot and our Training Team had a packed house for their Little Learners Big Ideas: Integrating TK Into Afterschool session. We can't wait for next year!
