It's getting hot in here! The first melt in the latest dual plasma/arc tube feed inert gas atomizer. This is ELI Ti64 (titanium) being fed, melted and atomized. The melting is done with plasma in a water cooled copper hearth or cold crucible. This is how powder is made for advanced 3D printing, AM (additive manufacturing). Learn more at www.arcastinc.com

Here is a mini strip caster doing its thing. We believe this is the first of its kind, of this scale. The crucible design allows a side ejection of the metal to simulate what the large scale systems do. It is a little different than conventional melt spinning. https://lnkd.in/ekQQTQyZ

A nice installation of a lab scale strip caster at CEIT in San Sebastian. A great great customer and wonderful location! This small scale strip caster has been adapted to operate like the large scale strip casting systems from a melt spinning base. The side mounted crucible offers the melt to the water cooled copper wheel just like the large scale systems do. The result is well formed rapidly quenched strips of the target thickness.
