In her powerful reflection,?Sherrilyn Ifill?reminds us that the legacy of Selma is not just a moment in history—it is a force that continues to shape the fight for democracy and justice today. As we mark?60 years since Bloody Sunday, we are reminded that the courage, resilience, and collective action of those who marched then are just as necessary now. The threats to voting rights, racial justice, and democracy persist, but so does the power of those who stand against them. Selma is more than a place—it is a testament to what is possible when communities organize, resist, and push forward despite opposition. ?? ?? Wisdom Wednesdays: The Impact of Anti-DEI Legislation on Education Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives are essential in creating supportive environments for historically underrepresented students, including students of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. However, recent legislative efforts in at least 24 states aim to dismantle these vital programs, threatening the well-being and success of countless students. As highlighted by the National Education Association (NEA), DEI resources not only help students persist to graduation but also educate entire campuses on the importance of living in a diverse world. Eliminating these programs undermines the progress we've made toward inclusivity and equity in education. At ARC4Justice, we remain committed to advocating for policies that uplift all communities. Let’s continue pushing for equitable education and rejecting policies that seek to erase progress. ??
