The Arc Minnesota is leading the charge for employment equality and disability rights by advocating for increased competitive integrated employment (CIE) across the state. Three new videos, made possible through The Arc Minnesota’s Peer to Peer Mentor program with funding by a grant from the Minnesota Transformation Initiative, showcase the stories of people with disabilities working in The Arc’s Value Village stores around the Twin Cities. The Peer to Peer Mentor program recruits peer mentors, hosts trainings and panel discussions, and makes videos to promote competitive integrated employment. Competitive integrated employment means that people with and without disabilities earn the same amount, at least minimum wage, and receive the same benefits for doing the same job. Peer mentors are people with disabilities, with jobs, who help other people with disabilities on their own job journey. This video series is one piece of a larger movement that shows people with disabilities can and do work the same jobs as people without disabilities. The value they bring is clear. Here’s the second video filmed at the Value Village in New Hope! Video link: https://bit.ly/4kADpI1

关于我们
The Arc's Mission The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion and participation in their communities. Over 70 years ago, The Arc Minnesota started because of conversations between parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. These talks had a common vision in mind: that every child with disabilities has the opportunity to live, learn, work and play where and how they wish in their lifetimes. The Arc Minnesota is a grassroots advocacy organization dedicated to securing for all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families the opportunity to realize their goals of where and how they live, learn, work and play. The Arc has been a leader in system change since 1946 resulting in the move from institutionalization to the current array of community based services and supports for children and adults with disabilities and their families. Annually, The Arc Minnesota serves approximately 4,000 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (including conditions such as Down syndrome, autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and other related conditions), parents/guardians and other family members in the seven county metro area. Services include information and assistance, individual advocacy, networking and Family Access groups, Sibling programs, ArcShops, public policy advocacy and self-advocacy building. March is Color Therapy Month—an opportunity to reflect on how color has the power to change our world. It’s not just about healing, it’s about inspiring transformation, creating connections, and celebrating diversity. At both The Arc and Treat People Like People, we believe in the transformative power of inclusion, and just as color can shift our energy, our mindset can shift the way we see and embrace others. We’re inspired by the work of Fresh Eye Arts, a progressive art studio in the Twin Cities that supports artists living with disabilities to express themselves through color and creativity. The art created at Fresh Eye Gallery empowers individuals to share their stories, challenge perceptions, and showcase the beauty of diverse experiences. In doing so, they help build a more inclusive world. Learn more by visiting https://bit.ly/4iGy541
