Thank you to KENS 5 for capturing this magical moment of two Barred Owls being released on our site after months of rehabilitation with the incredible Last Chance Forever, the Bird of Prey Conservancy. Scott Anderson, our arborist with Urban Tree Company, and his daughter discovered the young owl that had fallen out of a tree on our site and could not fly. A life saved thanks to our partners! ?????? https://lnkd.in/gxsDtXCd

?? Today, Last Chance Forever, the Bird of Prey Conservancy released two Barred Owls on our site. In June, Scott Anderson with Urban Tree Company started our tree survey on the Arboretum site. As they were identifying, tagging, and geo-locating trees, they heard an owl screeching. Scott's daughter realized that the owl was in the brush next to a giant pecan tree. Our team tried to figure out a place that would be safe to put the owl back in the tree since it was too young to fly. They decided the best course of action was to take it for rehabilitation at Last Chance Forever. Our Arboretum owl was well taken care of and even had a rehab buddy who was injured and brought in after our owl, so today, we released our owl and one other! Look how much it has grown since June! INCREDIBLE!

?? Thank you to Jack Morgan and Texas Public Radio for coming to see us this week on-site and for the fantastic segment covering our work. You have until this Sunday to respond to our three proposed design concepts via the survey on our website. Your responses will help us create a fourth, final design that will be our master plan for the future. Your voice does matter, San Antonio! https://lnkd.in/gb828MnT --- "They then took us to one of their favorite spots: a place between two live oaks that are several hundred years old and look down a long fairway. 'I predict this will be a spot where there'll be many a wedding, many a proposal, many a family event, people sitting out here in some white chairs, maybe watching a member of their family make their vows of marriage. Quincea?eras. It's just about perfect,' Cisneros said with a smile. Corser noted another ongoing effort includes gathering input from interested parties and working to form a cohesive plan. 'We've hired Sasaki a firm renowned in their architecture definition planning of botanical gardens and arboretums,' Corser said. Cisneros said they have developed three possible concepts for the San Antonio arboretum, each with a different focus."

Thank you to KLRN Public Television and Randy Beamer for having our Founder, Henry Cisneros, on "On the Record" to share where we are in the plans for YOUR Arboretum. If you want to go straight to 8:18 in the show, you can hear the Hon. Cisneros describe the three proposed design concepts. We need YOU to take our latest survey by Monday, November 4. Please visit our website, www.arboretumsa.org, to tell us what you like or don't like about each concept. This is a critical milestone; we want to know what you want! ?? ?? ??
Tonight at 7 - On The Record host Randy Beamer discusses the Institute of Texan Cultures building and a new designation by the state that could slow down plans for a new Spurs arena. Plus, the Arboretum is asking for public input on design plans. And on Reporters Roundtable, we take a look at driverless cars in Austin. Catch it tonight, on-air and online with the PBS app.

??Time for your feedback! Our survey is ready for you via our website or the linked article below. Please let us know what you think about the three design concepts so we can create a fourth, final design. Thank you, Axios San Antonio. ?? ---- "Plans for Arboretum San Antonio are taking root, allowing residents to weigh in on features they'd like to see in the tree sanctuary, which is expected to be the second-largest in Texas. Called a "museum of trees," the arboretum will provide outdoor activity space and serve as a destination for the Southeast Side. Arboretum San Antonio hosted a feedback session last week showcasing three concept plans for the site, which was once the Republic Golf Course." https://lnkd.in/gBNuV-Bc
