We got our start in 1935 as the Kalamazoo School Employees Credit Union. Our goal: to meet the financial needs of local educators. Since then, our mission has evolved and we now provide services to all types of families and businesses across the state of Michigan. In 2016, we became Arbor Financial Credit Union. The new name was designed to change the perception that you had to be a teacher to join. With the reference to trees, we also wanted to reinforce our strong community roots, commitment to growth, and our environmentally friendly mindset. Arbor Financial has ten branches within the south west MI area. More than 40,000 people are Arbor Financial members. The credit union has over $600 million in assets. The ?? Caring Committee here at Arbor recently focused efforts on supplying winter weather gear to those less fortunate in our local communities, selecting Mel Trotter Ministries in Kent County and The Dream Center in Kalamazoo County as our recipient organizations. Mel Trotter Ministries – Mel Trotter Ministries in Grand Rapids, is an organization that works to end homelessness and hunger in West Michigan, through community partnerships and innovative solutions. The Dream Center – With a mission of “giving the promise of hope by providing necessities to those in need in the Kalamazoo area,” The Dream Center is an organization solely run by volunteers who are dedicated to serving their clients with compassion and dignity. ?? Arbor teammates were generous, donating: ?? More than a dozen winter coats ?? Nearly a dozen hats ?? Half a dozen pairs of gloves In addition to Arbor staff donations, the Caring Committee also allocated nearly $3,000 of your generous donations through Casual for a Cause Day donations to purchase: 20+ winter coats 20+ pairs of fleece and sweatpants 15+ hats/hat-glove combos Enough underwear, boxers, socks, etc., for a small army!! Donations were presented last week and early this week. ??

So excited to share that we’ve helped a local non-profit refinance their land contract, giving them the opportunity to improve cash flow and officially take ownership of their property! ?? With a 5-year term and 20-year amortization on a $200,000 loan, this space will provide a permanent home in a prime Kalamazoo location, right in the heart of a busy business corridor.
