?? Humans of CASA: Rhonda’s Story ?? For years, Rhonda told herself, one day, she’d drink the special hot chocolate she had been saving for the right occasion. That’s when her daughter told her: “Mom, drink the hot chocolate! What are you waiting for? You need to start doing all the things you’ve been saying you want to do for years.” ?? That moment led her becoming a CASA in March 2024—and also to getting her motorcycle license and a brand-new bike! ??? Like many CASA volunteers, Rhonda does not have child welfare, social work, or court experience. But CASA training and staff gave her the confidence she needed. “The training was excellent and I got a really good sense of what a child might experience in the foster care system. I didn’t need a social work degree—there was a learning curve, but it was definitely doable. I’ve never felt alone in this. You’ve got the support you need if you have a question." Now, she’s most proud of the relationships she’s built working with families. “I work in finance, and CASA is about as different from that as you can get. CASA helps me stay grounded—it’s purposeful, it’s meaningful.” ?? Her advice? “There are kids who need volunteers. You’re needed. Go for it! Drink the hot chocolate! It can be challenging, but you get the support you need along the way.” ?? Are you ready to take the leap? Email us to learn more: [email protected].

The Greater Grand Rapids 100 Women Who Care is going strong! 10 years and counting. A fantastic group of women committed to supporting the Greater Grand Rapids area through donations to our needed non-profits. This quarter, we heard from Arbor Circle, Flat River Outreach Ministries, and North Kent Connect, and FROM received the most votes for our financial contributions. Thank you to each of them for their vital work in our communities!
