Therefore Aquastill BV has installed a membrane distillation unit at Buddy Dive Bonaire to provide safe water for this dive resort. The membrane distillation unit uses the waste heat from local diesel generators, saving electricity and lowering the carbon footprint of the desalination process. ? Buddy Dive Resort Bonaire is increasingly focusing on a level of social and environmental sustainability. Even though Bonaire is a small island, they want to create a better world together. We've updated you already about Kirtiraj Chavan succeeding in setting up and putting into operation a lab unit at our location in Sittard. ? We can publicate some of the first test information: ? We are now able to carry out research in membranes for membrane distillation: how to test wetting of membranes on a long term basis. ? This we do by adding a non-volatile fluorescent tracer to the salty feed solution. Then we can see the distillate channel directly under UV light through a transparent front channel. If you see fluorescent light, then the membrane has wetted. ? Long term wetting studies are being performed at Aquastill BV, where we expose the membrane to the harshest conditions at the highest temperature and pressure and we can simulate ageing of the membrane and determine the replacement time. ? Earlier we informed you about our acquisition of SolarSpring assets in the field of Membrane Distillation, following the insolvency proceedings of SolarSpring. In meantime Kirtiraj Chavan has succeeded in setting up a lab unit at our location in Sittard. This has now actually been put into operation. The PURA-Lab is now also used for lab tests with various membranes, spacers, and MD configurations. It is not only the perfect tool to test new MD applications also with very corrosive or harsh environments, but also to validate MD models.
