Today, we started development of our Carbon Sequestration Strategy after securing strategic partnerships with leaders in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and carbon credit verification. The collaboration with Isometric, Arca Climate Technologies, Exterra Carbon Solutions and Aquarry aims to develop large-scale CDR at Renard, making it a world-first, dual-purpose hub for lithium production and carbon management. This marks a major milestone in our commitment to decarbonisation and innovation, as we work towards becoming an industry leader in sustainable mining practices. Carbon mineralization represents a multi-billion dollar, strategic opportunity for the mining industry. “Purely from a carbon removal perspective, through the mineralization of mine waste, this is a multi billion dollar opportunity. Minimum prices for durable carbon dioxide removal are in the order of US$100 a ton. Considering the scale of the removal that is required, you're talking about huge, huge sources of revenue,” says Dr. Greg Dipple, Arca’s Head of Science.
