Aquarian Holdings and Raven Capital drop the beat with $250m music rights investment. The joint venture will acquire approximately 15,000 song rights, including tracks like Morgan Wallen’s?"Whiskey Glasses", Meghan Trainor’s?"All About That Bass", and James Arthur’s?"Say You Won’t Let Go". The move comes as streaming continues to dominate the music industry, accounting for 84% of recorded music revenue in the first half of 2024, according to the Recording Industry Association of America? (RIAA). Songs by Meghan Trainor and Morgan Wallen are among the roughly 15,000 being acquired by Raven Music Partners, a joint venture between $22-billion Aquarian Holdings and asset-based lender Raven Capital. Raven Music expects eventually to have at least $1 billion of song copyrights under its ownership. The music-streaming industry is projected to expand at a compound annual rate of over 10% between 2023 and 2030, compared with 7.6% for recorded music more broadly, according to the research arm of investment bank?Goldman Sachs.

Today, Aquarian Holdings announced a strategic joint venture with Raven Capital to invest in Raven Music Partners, a music-only strategy focused on copyright acquisition. Aquarian will become an anchor investor in Raven Music Partners’ investment strategy seeded with a catalog of ~15,000 intellectual property assets across country, rock, pop, and Christian music—featuring hits like Whiskey Glasses, All About That Bass, and Say You Won’t Let Go. ?
