?? Hope in the Water ?? Last night, I had the honor to attend the screening for the new docuseries 'Hope in the Water,' a 3-part series coming to PBS on June 19 that takes a closer look at the blue food technology solutions that can feed our growing global population while saving our oceans. The series doesn't shy away from the stress we're putting on our seas to supply seafood, nor from the impact that industrial fishing is having on our oceans. It features that great work that innovators in aquaculture and fishers are doing to lessen the impact on our oceans, but I feel a key component is missing from the conversation -- the work that alternative seafood companies are doing to offer a solution to this problem. At AQUA, we're not trying to replace seafood, nor tell consumers what they should or shouldn't eat. We exist to offer a seafood solution without compromise. A solution that satisfies your seafoodie cravings with the added benefit of making a more sustainable choice. We won't change consumer behaviors by preaching, blaming or shaming; but for consumers looking for healthful, sustainable swaps, we can offer endless helpings of hope through delicious seafood that is neither fished nor farmed. I believe it will take all parties - traditional fishing, aquaculture and seafood alternatives - working together if we're to achieve the lofty goal of reviving our oceans. The key takeaway of the night for me was said best by the series executive producer Andrew Zimmern, "It is the stories of hopefulness that inspires." I couldn't agree more. My hope is that we continue to have broader conversations about the health of our oceans and inspire change through the great work of all innovators offering blue food tech solutions. https://lnkd.in/gcK-EQuQ AQUA Cultured Foods Shedd Aquarium Jaclyn Wegner Walton Family Foundation WTTW/Chicago PBS Future Ocean Foods #foodtech #alternativeproteins #sustainability
