AQH is a project of SDC, implemented by Swiss TPH aiming to improve the services offered to Kosovo citizens.

关于我们

Accessible Quality Healthcare is a project funded by SDC Office in Kosovo and implemented by Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. AQH project is designed to support the implementation of the national reform agenda and complement other donor-supported programmes with a focus on the Primary Health Care (PHC) level and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). With its three outcomes the project aims to stimulate use of quality primary health care services by all Kosovo citizens, with particular attention to the needs and inclusion of socially vulnerable populations. The health of the population of Kosovo has improved, with strengthened healthcare providers and managers able to meet the needs of the patients (especially vulnerable groups), who are more aware of their rights and needs.

Sustaining impact beyond implementation! Last week, #AQH took a crucial step toward ensuring that healthcare improvements continue beyond the project’s duration. Through strategic capitalization ideas, our focus is on embedding best practices into national and local institutions. Success isn’t just about implementation, it’s about continuation. By effectively communicating impact and engaging key decision-makers, #AQH is transforming project initiatives into sustainable policies. Excited for the next steps as we build a stronger, more resilient healthcare system! #AQH #PublicHealth #SustainableDevelopment #HealthSystems

Better Homecare for the Elderly in #Kosovo! ?????? ?? Great news from the municipality Lipjan! Sixteen nurses, trained by the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo #NIPH, are now passing on their expertise to fellow nurses and caregivers. The first session of the training program, fully led by Lipjan’s nurse trainers, who also ensured the program was accredited by the Chamber of Nurses of Kosovo, kicked off today at the Main Family Medicine Center. Dr. Pranvera Krasniqi from NIPH Kosovo praised their efforts: "It's a pleasure to be here today at the training organized by Lipjan’s nurses. On the first day, they demonstrated excellent presentation skills, and as NIPH, we will continue to support them." With more sessions ahead, this initiative supported by the AQH Project marks an important step toward sustainable, high-quality elderly care. ???? #Healthcare #Nursing #ElderCare

AQH Project proudly shares our latest research, published in #BMC Public Health, which looks deep into how #social #participation mechanisms are transforming decision-making in Kosovo's primary #healthcare system. The study “Social Participation in Health – Case Studies from Primary Healthcare in Kosovo” focuses on vulnerable groups, including Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, as well as elderly citizens. It evaluates the effectiveness of initiatives like Patient Councils, Community Scorecards, and Municipal Health Action Plans in fostering collaboration between service users and providers promoting inclusivity and enhancing care quality. Key takeaways: ?? Community Scorecards give communities a stronger voice in healthcare decisions. ?? Municipal Health Action Plans empower community representatives to actively shape policy. ?? Patient Councils strengthen connections between patients and healthcare providers. Kosovo's Ministry of Health aims to expand the support of the AQH to all Primary Health Care institutions by using the ad hoc model as a strategic mechanism for the dissemination of best practices developed from previous phases. ? During the fourth workshop of the ad hoc working group held on December 18, the progress achieved during 2024, but also the challenges and further improvements, were discussed. The ad hoc working group plays a key role in the implementation of phase III of the AQH project, as it supports interventions in new municipalities in line with national priorities and the objectives of the Primary Health Care project. ? The demand-driven approach, as the focus of phase III of the AQH project, supports the PHC institutions that show interest in implementing the project components with a focus on non-communicable diseases.
