Aptima Interns: Class of 2020
Despite COVID-19, Aptima hired 10 interns, all of whom did amazing work over Summer 2020 and several of whom are staying on into the academic year. Everyone worked remotely: the Aptima Information Systems sent laptops to each intern's home and videoconferencing with mentors and team members was the norm. We wish each of them the very best in their future adventures and look forward to seeing where their paths lead them!
Meet Charlie, Aptima's First AI Employee
Charlie? is an artificially intelligent agent for collaboratively interacting with humans or other artificially intelligent agents. She particularly excels in ideation and brainstorming activities. Charlie debuted at I/ITSEC 2019 where she joined a panel discussion and blended into the discussion as just another panel member. She generated new ideas, offered suggestions, and even got a few laughs out of the crowd. DId we mention she also likes to rap in her free time?
Employee Spotlight: Dr. Lisa Lucia Named AFCEA 40 Under 40
Lisa Lucia is a scientist at Aptima and has served as a Principal Investigator, Project Manager, Scrum Master, Proposal Lead, and Mentor. Outside work she tutors algebra in an afterschool program and judges an annual 5th grade science fair. She also co-hosts Aptima's STEM workshop for Girl Scouts. Her work at Aptima is in experimental & applied cognitive neuroscience such as programming the control of a prosthetic arm and developing automated assistant software tools for intelligence analysts.
