"This is the largest incident of this kind in the 25 years that I've been here in Hawaii. No hospital in the state can afford to have people sitting around," said Hilton Raethel, CEO of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii. "[The Healthcare Capacity System] is a great tool for being able to manage and triage care in incidents like this."? ? A devastating fireworks explosion in Honolulu on New Year's Eve required quick action by first responders who had to assess and triage patients to six hospitals across the island. Supporting health care workers so they can take care of patients is why the Healthcare Capacity System (HCS) exists. We're proud that dispatchers could use HCS to make informed, time-sensitive decisions about where patients could access lifesaving care. https://lnkd.in/gE62N7qZ

Congrats to our Board of Directors, Chair, Jeremy Davis for this recognition. Your leadership during our period of growth has been invaluable.
Congratulations to Jeremy Davis, CEO of Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande, for being named by Becker's Healthcare Hospital Review on the “90 critical access hospital CEOs to know” list for 2024. Under Davis’ leadership, Grande Ronde just completed a significant expansion project to enhance patient services. In May, Davis testified before the U.S. Senate Finance Committee on the challenges of providing rural health care.

“This is a game changer for us because prior to this capacity system going live, everything that we did in terms of aggregating numbers and communicating with each other and with government agencies was very manual. This gives us a tremendous new ability to get real-time data to the right people.”- Travis Clegg, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer, Straub Clinic and Hospital Hospitals around the country are seeing the benefits of the Healthcare Capacity System’s automated data tool. Real-time awareness of hospital bed capacity and resources is critical for effective healthcare management. However, this level of communication isn't always streamlined within hospitals or across a state. HCS improves communication by providing real-time data within and among hospitals. HCS allows hospitals to: 1. Track open beds in their region 2. Share capacity information efficiently 3. Streamline resource allocation By automating these processes, HCS significantly improves regional coordination and patient care, ensuring that healthcare resources are optimized when they're needed most.

Apprise recently hosted our virtual Best Practice Session for Healthcare Capacity System (HCS) users. This session provided a valuable opportunity to connect with our partners, even if only virtually! We heard from guest speakers Mimi Richert from the National Institutes of Health and Beth (Pallo) Golshir from the CDC. Additionally, HCS users presented including Daniel Davis, senior director of patient flow at St. Charles Health System in Bend, Ore. Daniel shared how HCS proved crucial this summer as the health system assessed potential fire evacuations due to two regional wildfires. While under Level 1 evacuation status, he reviewed HCS data every morning to gauge regional capacity in case patient evacuation became necessary. Daniel also utilized his communication channels to share this vital HCS data. We extend our sincere thanks to all partners who participated and shared their experiences during our Best Practices meeting!
