McDowell County Schools celebrated a HUGE milestone this week! The school system signed the first-ever CTE Teacher #RegisteredApprentices in North Carolina! The ANC Team is thrilled by this achievement, and we cannot wait to see all these apprentices achieve over the course of their #RegisteredApprenticeships! #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #ApprenticeshipUSA #ApprenticeshipNC
Happy National Apprenticeship Week! Let us celebrate McDowell County Schools signing seven (7) incredible individuals as North Carolina’s first-ever CTE Teacher Apprentices! As I always say, WORK-BASED LEARNING IS A TEAM EFFORT! With that being said, in addition to all of the wonderful people in McDowell County Schools and various partners, I would also like to recognize the following: A special shoutout to Eli Hamrick and Suzanne Lujan of NC DPI CTE (NC Career and Technical Education for their dedication to reviewing standards over the past year. And a huge thank you to Dr. Elizabeth Standafer of RTI for her unwavering support and advocacy in creating a talent pipeline to address the current teacher shortage. Additionally, I would also like to recognize Charles Milling of ApprenticeshipNC for his tireless efforts in leading the charge in promoting youth apprenticeships in Western North Carolina and across NC in general. McDowell County Schools has truly set a new standard for CTE teacher apprenticeship in North Carolina. So proud of this groundbreaking achievement! #NationalApprenticeshipWeek Atkins "Trey" Michael, M.Ed., PMP Nancy Cross, Ed.D. Anna Hair Kendall Waugh
