We want to thank the firefighters and first responders for their efforts in controlling the recent airport, bridge, and line fires, which are now under control. In recent years, technological advancements have been made in using satellite data for mapping and combating fires. During the recent fires, fire tracking apps utilized data from a satellite our company helped build. Applied Composites delivered 2 VIIRS Mainframes in 2009 and 2014, providing surface temperature data used by NOAA for 3-7 day weather forecasts. This data has also been used in fighting wildfires, providing real-time data to first responders and feeding into apps like WatchDuty, which the public uses to stay safe. https://lnkd.in/gv8Wx7uu #wildfires #fireseason #satellite
